How to know if dog is stressed? We adhere to Fear Free standards and take care to monitor your dog for signs of fear, anxiety, and stress (FAS). Common signs include trembling, excessive panting, avoidance behaviors, ears pinned back, lip licking, or a tucked tail. We adapt our approach based on your dog’s comfort level, whether it’s introducing the van, the treadmill, or any new environment. If your dog shows high levels of FAS, we take steps back, pause to reset, or end the session on a positive note to ensure your dog’s experience is always as stress-free as possible. Sometimes, building trust takes time, and we’re here to support your dog every step of the way!

What is a slatmill / dog treadmill?A dog slatmill is a type of non-motorized treadmill designed specifically for dogs. It features a free-spinning track made of slats, which move as the dog walks or runs. The key feature of a slatmill is that it relies entirely on the dog's natural movement to operate, meaning there is no motor controlling the speed. This allows the dog to adjust their pace freely, ensuring a workout without limitations on speed or intensity. The dog is safely secured, preferably using a harness attachment, which provides both support and freedom of movement. This setup minimizes the risk of injury and ensures that the dog remains centered on the treadmill. As the dog steps forward, the slats move backward, enabling them to walk or run in place. Slatmills are widely used for physical conditioning, weight management, and mental stimulation. They are especially beneficial for high-energy breeds or dogs that may not get enough exercise outdoors due to weather, space constraints, or other factors. With proper training and supervision, slatmills can be a safe and effective way to keep dogs active and healthy.
-
How does a dog treadmill benefit my pet?Dog treadmills provide a controlled environment for exercise, which can be beneficial for dogs needing weight management, rehabilitation, or additional physical activity. It’s also helpful for high-energy dogs or those who may not get enough exercise outdoors.
-
How often should my dog use the treadmill? The frequency and duration of treadmill sessions depend on your dog’s individual needs and fitness level. Our trainers can provide recommendations based on your dog’s health, age, and exercise requirements.
-
